I’m sharing this sermon by Pastor John Osteen here with you all. His ministry was a great source of encouragement to me during the darkest seasons of my life, and most importantly, he taught me how to pray. I followed his teachings and put them into practice while praying over my son’s conditions, and God faithfully answered every one of my prayers.
Pastor John Osteen reminded us that prayer is not merely speaking words- it is taking God’s own Word back to Him. When we pray the Scriptures, we are standing on divine authority. We place God in remembrance of His promises, not because He forgets, but because faith boldly declares what He has already spoken.
As we proclaim His Word before Him, we stand firm upon it, and in hat authority, we resist the enemy and drive back every work of the devil. Be courageous, and chase the devil out of our children’s body.
After listening to this sermon by Pastor John Osteen, my eyes were opened to a powerful truth – that prayer is meant to be joined with the Word of God. I realized that when we pray healing Scripture, we are connecting our faith directly to the Lord Jesus Himself.
In 2022, during the most difficult season of our lives – the year my son Jadon underwent a major operation – I was led to put this truth into practice. I prepared a notebook and began to gather Scripture from the Bible, committing to pray God’s Word over my son throughout the nine months we spent in the hospital.
I searched the Scriptures diligently and found verses that spoke specifically about wounds, healing and restoration. I took those promises and prayed them faithfully over my son, standing on God’s Word and trusting that what He has spoken, He is faithful to perform. I held fast to Scriptures like these, prayed them day and night:
Psalm 107:3
He healed the brokenhearted and binds up their (Jadon’s) wounds.
Psalm 41:3
The Lord sustains him (Jadon) on his sickbed; in his (Jadon’s) illness you restore him to full health.
Jeremiah 33:6
Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal Jadon and reveal to Jadon abundance of prosperity and security.
Pastor John also reminded us in his sermon that God takes delight when His children come boldly into His presence to claim His promises. God is pleased when we do not come in fear or uncertainty, but when we come as sons and daughters who know who they are in Him.
And so, every time I prayed, I came before the Lord with boldness and faith. I would say, “Lord Jesus, Jadon and I, as children of God, boldly come to Your throne of grace. We stand upon this promise from Your Word. We believe that You are already at work in Jadon’s body, and that Your healing has already begun.”
I declared with confidence that whatever God had started in my son, He would surely bring to perfect completion. And through this journey, I learned something powerful – that God rejoices when we pray His Word in faith. I could sense in my spirit that God heard those prayers and honored my faith behind them.
For many years, I did not have a clear understanding of how to pray to God in a proper way. I was uncertain whether God could truly hear my prayers, and even after praying, I did not know when or how God might respond.
Some Christians have said to me, “God is sovereign; we have done everything a Christian ought to do. However, miracles simply did not occur.” meanwhile, many non-believers claim, “If you believe, then God exists; if you do not believe, then there is no God.”
To me, there appears to be little difference in the depth of faith reflected in these two positions. As Christians, if we believe that God heals only whom He chooses and that miracles do not happen to everyone who believes in Him, yet we remain content with that explanation, we may not be fundamentally different from non-believers. In both cases, it seems to suggest an incomplete understanding of who God truly is.
The year 2022 was one of the darkest periods in my life, yet, at the same time, it became a most blessed year to me. One evening, in my son’s hospital ward, God Almighty – the Holy Spirit of Lord Jesus Christ came to me. It was an extraordinary experience, the first and the only time I had physically felt the depth of God’s Shalom peace.
When we were confronted with the high possibility of losing our son on the operating table, God Himself led me through the fire and the darkness. Day by day, month and month, He was present – teaching me, guiding me, and sustaining me.
My faith was greatly strengthened through the sermons of Pastor John Osteen and Steven Furtick. Through them, I learned how to believe, how to remain strong, and how to continue walking faithfully even through the valley of the shadow of death.
I learned lessons I never imagined I could learn – truth that, in my experience, many churches do not teach.
There is no specific Scripture explicitly addresses genetic diseases, nor is there a verse that directly instructs us to pray concerning conditions related to defective genes. However, we often overlook a fundamental truth: God is the Creator of all things, including human beings. Since we are created by God, our genes are also part of His creation.
The first instantaneous miracle occurred within one month of my son’s diagnosis.
One afternoon, my desperation led me into the presence of God Almighty- the Lord Jesus Christ, and everything changed.
My prayer was simple. I asked God to give me a sign and help me to overcome my unbelief. I repented before the Lord and asked for His forgiveness of all my sins. Specifically, I prayed that God would breathe life into my son’s ability to absorb and release copper in his body and restore his ceruloplasmin level to normal, as this was the extent of my understanding of his diagnosis at the time. I also incorporated a verse familiar to every Christian into my prayer: “By your strips, my Jadon is healed. In Jesus’ name, Amen!“.
You may ask, “Did God answer your prayer, Mary? ” The answer is yes! God heard me, saw even my small measure of faith, and Jesus blessed me with an instantaneous miracle immediately around 10 minutes after I finished praying.
Through this experience, I have learned that it is not difficult to touch heaven, and that Jesus is always willing to hear our cries in times of trouble. It takes only faith a size of a mustard seed to witness God at work. Our prayers do not need to be eloquent, professional, or formally structured; we simply need to call upon Him. We must ask God specifically for what we are seeking, and when our prayers align with His will, the Lord Jesus responds.
While the miracle you are believing for on behalf of your child may not occur as immediately as mine did, God remains faithful. If you earnestly seek Him, He will deliver you and you precious child from darkness in His perfect timing.
There is a very powerful Bible Scripture in the Bible which most of us have not taken seriously for years…
You might say, “Oh, I know this verse!”
However, please allow me to help you all to understand something very important. Many of the Bible Scriptures we are familiar with are, in fact, spiritual weapons – calling and binding us to pray.
I have learned that they (certain Scriptures) will remain merely words on a page unless we apply them in the midst of our trails and difficult circumstances.
Now, let me show you a clear example of what this powerful verse can accomplish when it was applied in my daily prayer!
As you can see from my son’s CT scan, this image reflects the frightening and heartbreaking darkness we faced in 2022. The surgical team warned us that, due to his fatal genetic diagnosis and the extreme complexity of his condition, there was a very high risk that he might not survive the operation because any cut can lead to massive bleeding…
Regarding this rare type of hernia, the lead surgeon stated, ” In my three decades of practice, I have never encountered a case like this.”

Returning to the point, Scripture teaches that we must speak to the mountain. What is the “mountain”? It represents the very things that cause us to weep- our burdens, worries, pain, and trails. As I learned from Pastor John Osteen, this “mountain” can even refer to the physical body and its organs.
Having been granted only two months to pray prior to the scheduled operation, I felt a profound burden to seek divine intervention. With a deep desire to relieve the pressure upon my son’s lungs, I turned the authority already bestowed upon me by God, I set my heart in faith and began to speak with conviction- commanding Jadon’s organs to align and move according to God’s will.
You may be wondering how I prayed for such a thing to take place, and what words I brought before the Lord as I sought His divine intervention. In that sacred place of prayer, I was intentional and deliberate, trusting that God would move on my behalf according to His power, His mercy, and His perfect will.
The answer is simple. I pray in the authority that God Himself has given. When I pray, I lay my hand upon my son’s stomach, upon his pancreas and intestines- and I boldly spoke and talked to them (“mountains”) and command them to move back to their proper place (where they belong) in the name of Jesus Christ.
Our Lord Jesus has granted us the right to use His name. Scripture reminds us that we are children of God, and as His children, we are invited to pray with faith and confidence. Therefore, let us use the name of Jesus when we pray, trusting fully in the authority He has bestowed and the power that works through faith in Him.
There are thousands of different types of genetic diseases that causing immense suffering among our children here on earth. Tragically, many of these conditions are considered fatal by human standards.
You may be asking, “How am I supposed to pray for my child’s genetic problem? It’s not the same as your son Jadon’s diagnosis, Mary.”
Once again, my answer is simple. Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life, as all believers know and confess. Therefore, we are not limited by what medicine names incurable or impossible. Begin to speak resurrection life over the defective or dormant genes in your child’s body. In the name of Jesus, command what is broken to be restored and what is lifeless to come alive.
As children of God, we may boldly approach our Heavenly Father. By faith, we may even ask for new and healthy genes from Heaven as we pray- placing our human understanding, but in the power, authority, and compassion of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In my own son’s case, I did not understand the technical terms or their medical meanings. I simply asked God to restore everything to his proper order and to breathe life into my son’s ability to properly process and release copper in his body.
I come to understand that our prayer does not need to be professional or eloquent. God fully understands the cries of our hearts. When we pray with faith, detail, and boldness, we bring the deepest desires of our hearts before Him, trusting that He hears us and responds according to His perfect will and unfailing love.

I had been through a fierce spiritual battle with demons in 2022 and it was Jesus who put me through the fire. My inspiration for writing this blog/website is absolutely 100% based on what I had learned from God, and I’m called by God to do this because there are millions of babies and children are suffering from different types of genetic diseases on earth while many of them are actually dying… I’ve witnessed miracles unfolding from Heaven that my mind just cannot comprehend…Hoping others can be blessed by what I’m sharing here 🙂
